Emmaus Den Haag Emmaus Welvaartsresten is a secondhand-shop and social community with a strong focus on recycling, respect, and solidarity. Since 1985 it is situated in an old monumental building in the city center of The Hague.
Shop
These are run almost entirely by volunteers. People can gain work experience there, or find a fun and meaningful way to spend their day. This is the backbone of our shop, because together these volunteers work hard to give items a second life and reduce the mountain of waste.
Live-Work Community
Emmaus Welvaartsresten is also a living community in The Hague. We live and work with about 5 people and collaborate with volunteers to keep old, but beautiful building up. The work consists mainly of keeping the shop running, which entails collecting, sorting, and selling second hand goods.
Everyone within the group is jointly responsible for the smooth running of affairs. In this way, everyone works together on their own future and that of others. There are currently eight Emmaus residential-work communities in the Netherlands.
Emmahuis Den Haag is the Hague branch of the Emmaus Movement Netherlands. Our living and working community is located on the Prinsegracht.
